July League Roundup
The Men’s C team have secured an immediate return to Division 4 following their relegation last season. Sitting second in the table and with just one match to go, they are seven points in front of 3rd place Gregory fields, who have two matches left.
In contrast, the Men’s A team have unfortunately not done enough to retain their 1st division status. Despite recording their first win of the season in early July, beating close rivals Shepley 9-8 in a rearranged fixture; the rest of the month saw a further 4 defeats, condemning them to the drop.
Despite four wins this season (which was enough to keep them up in 2024), the ladies’ team is facing relegation with one match to go. A win against relegation rivals Cleckheaton was the only highlight in July.
In division 3, the Men’s B team are on the verge of back-to-back promotions. With one match to go they sit second in the table, one point ahead of Sandal. A last match victory against Grove will mean division 2 tennis next season with the A team. Sandal’s last match of the season is against already promoted Huddersfield B.
