Longley Cup 2026

Our annual club competition

Longley Cup 2026.

The Longley Cup is our annual members-only competition.

The club competition is split into five sub-categories.
Men’s Singles. Men’s Open Doubles. Men’s Elite Doubles (league players - pick your partner to enter).
Ladies Doubles. Ladies Singles. Mixed Doubles. Each sub-category will follow the same match format.

All players enter the competition individually and fees must be paid before matches commence. Doubles pairings will be drawn randomly by the competition organisers.

Men’s Elite Doubles - players enter as a couple. Open to club league players.

NOTE: the number of couples in the mixed doubles competition is limited to the number of ladies that join (we have more men than women at the club). Therefore, in the event that we have more men than ladies wanting to play, names will be drawn to randomly select the same number of men as ladies. Pairings will then be drawn. Players will be notified of the draw.

Depending on the number of players, the group will be split into two Pools. Individuals/Pairs in the Pool will play each other once in a round-robin format.

Match format.
2 Sets, sudden death deuce, with a tie break played at 5-5. If sets are tied at 1-1 , a Championship 10pt tie-break will be played to determine the winner.

3pts are awarded for a win.

In the event of two individuals/pairs tying in the Pool, total games won will be used as a tiebreaker. Should there be equal games, a 1-set decider will be played to decide who goes through to the semi-final.

The top two in each Pool will play off in the semi-finals.
1st in Pool A will play 2nd in Pool B. 1st in Pool B will play 2nd in Pool A.
Winners of the semis will play each other in the final.

Results should be posted on the Longley Cup Whatsapp by the winning player/pair.
