July League Roundup. Ladies team are champions!

Longley Ladies made it another perfect month with four more wins in division 2, beating Gregory Fields A (10-1), Holmfirth B (12-0), Linthwaite A (10-1) and Denby Dale A (11-6). The whitewash of Holmfirth B was the standout — a 12-0 clean sweep at home. The team remain unbeaten all season with just one fixture left, away at Cleckheaton A on 3rd August.

It was a tougher month for the Men's A team in division 2. They took the points at home against Holmfirth A (10-6), avenging June's defeat, but lost out away at Gregory Fields A (11-7) and Huddersfield B (11-6). With one match left to play against the B team, it looks like promotion might be narrowly missed.

The B team's search for a first win goes on. Division 2 has been unforgiving all year and July brought three more defeats, at home to Huddersfield B (11-4) and Shepley A (11-1), and away at Marsden A (12-0). There have been plenty of competitive rubbers along the way, and the experience of a division above will stand the side in good stead next year.

Better news for the C team in division 4, who had their best month of the season with two wins and a defeat. They won 10-6 away at Mirfield C, went down in a closely fought 11-7 defeat at Gregory Fields, and picked up a walkover at Denby Dale B after the home side conceded. Two fixtures remain in early August. Relegation is not a certainty yet.

In the Calderdale league, the men's team were again relentless, winning all five of their July matches — Todmorden E, Liversedge C, Cleckheaton B, Northowram B and Todmorden F. Four of the five finished 8-0, with a single set dropped against Liversedge C. Our team stay top of division 4, unbeaten as Champions, with just Marsden C away on 6th August standing between them and a perfect season.
